Intro - Steps - What Was | Michael Parchaiski Live | Junior Recital December 7, 2023
Intro, Steps, What Was. From my junior recital live performance on December 7, 2023. The intro is a solo I transcribed from bassist Christian McBride that he played live with Chick Corea before the song “Steps”. The album version has “Steps” and “What Was” performed back to back with a drum solo connecting them, so for my arrangement I decided to stick with that idea. Thank you all for all of your support! I hope you enjoy! Musicians: Piano - Sam Ross Bass - Michael Parchaiski Drums - Ryan Dong

Overlook | Michael Parchaiski Live | Junior Recital December 7, 2023
Overlook is an original composition that is very special to me. When I first moved to California for college I would go to practice my bass in the conservatory parking structure since I could not practice in my dorm. At the end of every practice session, I would practice improvising based on just a starting note or key and then see what Ideas I was able to come up with. I would record a video every time I did this. Overlook is half improvised and half a transcription of what I played at my first practice session at Long Beach. Please enjoy, Overlook.

Basic Music Theory Concepts That All Beginning Musicians NEED to Know
This video is the first of many where I will be breaking down music theory concepts in a way that beginning as well as advanced musicians can learn more about music theory. I feel that music theory is often seen as very difficult to understand and often makes getting into music very difficult for new musicians that did not start at a young age through school. I believe that everyone should be able to learn music theory in a way that makes it easy to understand, where topics are not just thrown at you but rather explained in a specific way that makes sure everyone is able to fully grasp the concepts being discussed. -- My goal is to create several music theory videos for all skill levels of musicians starting with the most basic topics, going all the way to some very advanced concepts, with the goal that beginning musicians should be able to learn even the most advanced topics by watching these videos. -- If anything in this video was unclear please leave a comment and I will make sure to explain the concept in a way you can better understand. I want everyone to feel like they are able to learn music theory, as it is such an important part of playing and listening to music. -- I hope everyone enjoyed this introductory video, and was able to learn about music theory. I am very excited to continue to share all that I know about music with you!

This video has A LOT of information in it, but the format of giving you as much information as possible makes rewatches very rewarding as you will pick up a lot more of the information that you may have missed on the first watch. What Is The BASS CLEF and How Do Pianists Read Music?
This video is the third installment of my music theory education videos. This video will teach you how to read bass clef and the grand staff The resources I mentioned in the video can be found below: Practice - Bass clef: https://bit.ly/4bVXtzr Practice - Grand staff: https://bit.ly/3wNasEA Practice - Grand Staff piano identification: https://bit.ly/3KmyZDn Review - Piano note identification: https://bit.ly/3SjZNt3 -- I tried to keep this video on the shorter side while still making sure I have explained reading bass clef and the grand staff in a way that will allow anyone to learn no matter age or experience with music theory. This video contains a lot of opportunities to practice reading bass clef and grand staff music along with many resources to help with practicing these skills.
